Load assets in smaller groups
Content directories give teams finer control over local asset loading.
Unity 6.6
Introduction to content directories Update releaseSupported now

What changed
Unity feature: Content directories
Content directories track dependencies per asset so local content can load in smaller pieces. Addressables can use them while retaining its existing loading API.
Use it
- In Addressables, select the local groups to migrate and use Convert Schema(s) to content directories.
- Build the content directory and distribute its output with the Player. The conversion guide covers the settings that change.
Requirements and limits
- Local content only: remote content still needs an appropriate delivery system such as AssetBundles. Separate content builds can still duplicate shared assets.
