What changed

Unity feature: Physics Core 2D and RenderSprite

Physics Core 2D provides a C#-driven physics world. RenderSprite draws sprites without creating a GameObject for each one, making a different approach to large simulations possible.

Use it

  1. Use the Physics Core 2D guide to create and step a world with bodies and shapes.
  2. Submit the visual results through Graphics.RenderSprite or RenderSpriteInstanced each frame.

Requirements and limits

  • This is a code-driven workflow rather than Rigidbody2D component setup. RenderSprite supports 2D lights and masks but does not cast shadows in this release.
