What changed
Unity feature: Distributed authority
Distributed authority lets clients own different parts of a networked simulation instead of putting all authority on one game host. It changes how ownership and synchronization are designed.
Use it
- Use the distributed-authority documentation to configure the appropriate Netcode for GameObjects and multiplayer service setup.
- Study the official sample’s ownership and synchronization flow before assigning gameplay responsibilities to clients.
Requirements and limits
- Beta at the Unity 6 launch. Client ownership has different trust and failure-handling implications from a server-authoritative design. Current package documentation may describe later changes.
