Unity Hub 4.0.0-beta.3

Official notes

Projects

  1. Change

"Connect to Unity Cloud" is now "Enable cloud project", with one dialog wherever you open it. Trying again after a failed create no longer makes a second cloud project.

  2. Change

Add project from repository now shows which Git account the Hub will use for the repository's organization, and lets you choose another one.

  3. Fix

Fixed an issue where a project opened with a custom Editor build showed a missing Editor warning after the Editor closed.

  4. Change

The expanded project row now shows the size of the remote repository for GitHub, GitLab, and Unity Version Control projects.

  5. Change

New project, Save as template, and Connect to source control now keep the repository name exactly as you typed it, and show what to fix when the provider won't accept it.

  6. Change

The Templates page now opens right away on a machine with many Editors installed, and New project scans the Editors' built-in templates several times faster.

  7. Fix

Fixed an issue where a project's custom template count showed zero for templates saved before the Hub tracked their source.

  8. Change

In New project, tabbing through the settings now keeps the focused field in view.

  9. Change

Leaving New project now frees the memory its template previews used.

Source control

  1. Change

In “Add project from repository", Show more in the branch list no longer mixes in branches from your previous search, and the repository and branch lists show a spinner while they load.

  2. Fix

Fixed an issue where a stalled Git transfer or a cancelled Unity Version Control command kept running in the background.

  3. Fix

Fixed an issue where the Hub could hang on a project with an unusually large or unreadable version control or package manifest file.

Installs

  1. Change

On Apple silicon Macs running macOS 27, the Archive and the missing Editor flow list Intel Editors again.

    • macOS
  2. Change

On Apple silicon Macs, a Hub running under Rosetta 2 now recommends Apple silicon Editor builds, as it does when it runs natively.

  3. Change

The Cancel download dialog now names the full Editor version, such as "Unity 6.6 (6000.6.0f1)".

  4. Improvement

Improved the install progress bar and the layout of Downloads rows with long Editor names.

Licenses

  1. Fix

Fixed an issue where the Retry button disappeared from Licenses for a signed-out user when the licensing client was unavailable.

  2. Change

The list of licenses you can return now refreshes after Retry.

  3. Improvement

Improved the layout of the license terms and the Get Unity Personal dialog.

General

  1. Change

When an Editor or another app asks the Hub to open a folder that isn't in your Projects list, the Hub now asks you first.

  2. Fix

Fixed several issues upgrading from Unity Hub 3.22 to 4.0 on Windows. A failed upgrade now explains what went wrong instead of reopening the old version, and the upgrade no longer leaves 3.22 installed alongside 4.0 or leftover files in Program Files.

    • Windows
  3. Fix

Fixed an issue on Windows where the Hub's background updates could move it back to an older version.

    • Windows
  4. Fix

Fixed an issue on Windows where restoring the Hub after a display or scaling change left part of the window blank.

    • Windows
  5. Fix

Fixed a crash at startup on Macs whose network uses a proxy auto-configuration (PAC) file.

  6. Change

The Hub no longer crashes on Macs whose graphics driver can’t start its display. It now explains the problem and offers a Contact support button.

  7. Change

On macOS, the system proxy bypass list now works with a manual proxy.

    • macOS
  8. Change

Opening Terminal from the Tools menu on macOS no longer asks for permission to control Terminal.

    • macOS
  9. Change

On Linux and macOS, logging out no longer causes a false crash report.

    • macOS
    • Linux
  10. Fix

After an unexpected close, the Hub sends an anonymous crash report on its next start, so the problem can be fixed.

  11. Fix

Fixed an issue where the Hub kept a CPU core busy while idle with a text field focused.

  12. Fix

Fixed a crash when typing with an input method editor, such as Japanese or Chinese, in tag fields.

  13. Improvement

Improved keyboard and screen reader support. Dialogs are announced and return focus to the control that opened them, tabs announce their name and state, tooltips open on keyboard focus, and Tab continues from the last focused control.

  14. Improvement

Improved visual polish, including keyboard focus on buttons and rows, long text that now wraps inside its box, and emoji that now draw in color.

  15. Change

Home banners keep showing when one banner in the feed is incomplete.

  16. Change

Switching to another account now clears the previous account's notifications right away.

  17. Change

Bug reports can now attach large files such as screen recordings and project archives.

  18. Improvement

Improved command-line launches. A screen name after an option opens that screen, it switches a Hub that's already running, and an unrecognized word reports an "Unknown command" error.

  19. Change

A Hub update mirror set with hubUpdateServerPath in the machine-wide services-config.json is used again.

  20. Change

On macOS, the Hub log names the macOS version again.

Security

  1. Security

Improved how the Hub verifies Editors, modules, templates, and Hub updates before it installs them, including installs that need administrator rights.

  2. Security

Improved protection for your sign-in and saved passwords.

  3. Security

Improved how the Hub protects its local data, logs, and bug reports on shared computers.

  4. Security

Updated the trusted certificate authorities to remove ones that are no longer trusted.

  5. Security

A custom Hub update server must now use an HTTPS address.

  6. Security

The Hub now uses a machine-wide services-config.json only when non-administrators can't change it.

  7. Security

When your proxy needs a password, the Hub now asks for it instead of reusing other saved passwords.

  8. Security

Editor and module downloads now need to reach Unity's release service.

  9. Security

Opting out of analytics now also stops events saved while you were offline from being sent, and stops crash reports from carrying your user identity.

Pick your Unity version

Unity Releases compares releases against the version your project is on. Picking it now keeps Compare versions focused on what changes between where you are and where you might be going.
