Unity Hub 4.0.0-beta.1

Official notes

General

  1. Change

Unity Hub is now a native app that starts up about 10 times faster, with a download about a quarter of the size. Updating replaces your Hub 3.x install.

  2. Change

On Linux, Hub 4.0 upgrades your existing unityhub package in place with apt and dnf.

    • Linux
  3. Change

On Linux, Unity Hub is now available as a Flatpak (com.unity.UnityHub).

    • Linux
  4. Change

Cmd+F (Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux) now jumps to search on Projects, Templates, and Installs.

    • Windows
    • Linux
  5. Change

Unity Hub now respects your system's reduce motion setting.

  6. Change

The Hub now uses the Unity Editor's proxy settings, UNITY_PROXYSERVER and UNITY_NOPROXY.

Source control

  1. Feature

Added support for Git remotes that use SSH, with the key your SSH agent already holds.

  2. Change

The Hub can now set up Git Credential Manager, so you can sign in to GitHub and GitLab in your browser instead of creating a personal access token.

  3. Change

You can now pick a different Git account per organization or per project. The Unity CLI, your IDE, and Git use the same account.

  4. Change

The Hub now uses the GitHub and GitLab sign-in already saved in your system's credential manager, so you no longer paste a personal access token into the Hub. Disconnecting also signs out your terminal and IDE, so the Hub asks first.

  5. Change

Cloning a Git repository now shows progress, and Cancel stops it. Git LFS files now arrive as real files when Git LFS is installed.

  6. Change

Repository links for projects in a subfolder now open the default branch.

  7. Fix

Fixed an issue on Windows where Unity Version Control checked in nothing for project paths with accented or non-Latin characters.

    • Windows
  8. Change

When a new project's first Unity Version Control check-in fails, the Hub now says so.

Installs

  1. Change

The Install Editor dialog now shows each version's release date.

  2. Change

The Hub now cleans up partial download files left by a cancelled or crashed download.

Licenses

  1. Change

On Linux Arm64, licensing now works when FEX-Emu is installed.

    • Linux

Projects

  1. Change

Switching accounts now refreshes the Editor releases you can install.

Custom templates

  1. Change

You can no longer create a template from a project that's open in the Editor, which could produce a broken template.

  2. Change

Template names can now use only non-Latin characters, such as Japanese or Cyrillic.

Security

  1. Security

Logs attached to bug reports, and the Hub's own log, no longer include your account name or email address.

Pick your Unity version

Unity Releases compares releases against the version your project is on. Picking it now keeps Compare versions focused on what changes between where you are and where you might be going.
