Unity Hub 3.22.0
General
- Feature
Added an "About" tab to Settings. It lists the versions of Unity Hub and its components (Electron, Chromium, Node.js, V8, and the bundled Unity CLI), and opens the open source license notices included with the Hub.
- Change
The Hub window now stays responsive while unpacking Editors, scanning for installed Editors, and downloading large files. Interrupted downloads resume where they left off.
- Feature
Work started by the Unity CLI now appears in the Hub. CLI downloads and installs show in Downloads and activity, and failed CLI downloads can be dismissed there. Projects added and modules installed by the CLI appear in Projects and under their Editor in Installs without restarting the Hub.
- Change
macOS 12 Monterey is no longer supported. Unity Hub 3.22 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. Hubs on macOS 12 or earlier are not offered this update and stay on the 3.21 line.
- macOS
- Fix
Updated the Electron runtime to 44. This fixes crashes on Windows when signing out, shutting down, or restarting, a memory leak when opening windows, and wrong window sizing on a second monitor with different scaling. The Hub also starts faster on Linux, Windows on Arm, and Intel Macs, and uses less CPU while idle.
- Windows
- Linux
- Fix
Fixed an issue where the Hub showed "Hub failed to start" when another process held the channel it uses to talk to the Editor, such as a Hub running under another user account on a shared machine.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where the Hub window came to the front when an Editor or the Unity CLI started it in the background.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where Editors opened from the Hub could be signed out while the Unity CLI was running.
- Fix
Fixed an issue on Linux where a debugger could not attach to an Editor opened from the Hub. Rider and VS Code now find the Editor process again.
- Linux
- Fix
Fixed an issue on managed Windows machines where sign-in did not persist when Credential Manager was full. Credentials are now stored locally on the machine, and your existing session moves over on first launch.
- Windows
- Fix
Fixed an issue where Unity Cloud features could show empty organizations and projects while you were signed in. The Hub now refreshes your session and retries.
- Fix
Fixed an issue on Windows where browser sign-in failed because `unityhub://` links pointed to a Hub that was no longer installed. The Hub now checks and repairs this at startup.
- Windows
- Change
Opening an unsupported `unityhub://` link now shows an "Unsupported link" message instead of an install error.
- Change
Restarting to install a Hub update now shuts the Hub down cleanly first, saving in-progress downloads so they can resume.
- Fix
On Linux and macOS, stopping the Hub with a termination signal (kill, Ctrl-C, logout, or shutdown) now saves in-progress downloads and shuts down cleanly instead of force quitting after a fixed delay.
- macOS
- Linux
- Change
"Switch organization" and other organization features now work on networks that block Unity's analytics service.
- Change
Text throughout the Hub now uses each language's own quotation marks and apostrophes (« » in French, Spanish, and Russian; 「 」 in Japanese and Traditional Chinese; „ " in German; and curly quotes elsewhere).
- Change
Learn durations now use the correct plural form in every language, and Japanese durations in hours read 時間 instead of 時.
- Change
Unity Hub no longer asks its analytics service to record or locate your IP address, and licensing analytics no longer capture incidental interactions such as page views.
- Change
On Linux, the window control buttons follow your desktop's icon theme. The unread notification badge and download progress bar are back on the app icon, and the tray icon appears on GNOME (with the AppIndicator extension), Cinnamon, and XFCE.
- Linux
- Change
On Linux, the AppImage download is now named `UnityHub--.AppImage` .
- Linux
Licenses
- Feature
Added a banner that appears when your machine is configured to use a floating license server. It shows the server URL and warns when the licensing client can't reach the server. It also lets you restore floating licensing without editing services-config.json by hand.
Projects
- Fix
Fixed an issue where opening a project right after the Hub started could launch the wrong Editor version. The Hub now reads the version from the project's own files, whether you open it from the Projects list, the tray menu, OS recent items, or a project link.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where opening a project from a Hub project link logged a "Missing handler for URL" warning in the Editor console.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where a project's expanded row could link to a Unity Cloud project that had been deleted. The link is now replaced with a "Not available on Unity Cloud" note.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where a project disappeared from the Projects list when its Editor crashed some time after the project was created.
- Change
New Project now rejects project names that are too long for the Editor to create the solution and IDE files it names after the project.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where cancelling the folder picker for a new project showed an error.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where a failed Unity Cloud project creation showed a generic "Could not connect project" message. The Hub now shows the reason Unity Cloud returned and still creates the project locally.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where the same project could appear more than once in the Projects list when it was added through differently spelled paths. Existing duplicates are merged on startup, and a running Editor is no longer misread as closed because of path casing or separators.
- Change
Project and install path checks now respect case-sensitive volumes, including case-sensitive APFS on macOS.
- macOS
- Change
On Linux, projects on external drives under /run/media can now be opened and created.
- Linux
Installs
- Fix
Fixed an issue where installing an Editor selected an older bundled Visual Studio module by default when a newer compatible version was already installed.
- Change
Installing an Editor with modules now bounces the Dock icon (or flashes the Windows taskbar) once, when everything finishes, and posts a single "Install complete" notification naming the Editor version.
- Windows
- Fix
Fixed an issue where repairing a module did not appear in Downloads and activity after another operation had already run on that module.
- Change
Editor and module downloads, including resumed downloads, are now verified against the release manifest's checksum. A corrupted download is deleted and downloaded again once before failing.
- Change
Downloads interrupted by a crash or force quit are kept for a day so they can resume. Requesting the same install again now resumes or restarts instead of stalling.
- Change
Failed installs now report the underlying reason. A permission failure in the install folder is reported as an unwritable location, with a prompt to choose one you own.
- Change
A download folder owned by another user now says so and names the owner, including folders created by a Unity CLI run with administrator rights.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where an install could wait unnecessarily after a previous Hub or Unity CLI process had exited.
- Fix
Fixed an issue where installing an Editor on Windows failed on machines set up for unprivileged installs (hubDisableElevate). The installer asks for elevation on demand again, as it did before 3.20.
- Windows
Custom templates
- Fix
Fixed an issue where projects created from a custom template saved from a Unity 6000.6.0a4 or newer project opened with a Console full of "UDSFilesystem failed to acquire a read handle" errors. Templates now include the Library/DataStore folder. Save an affected template again once to repair it.
Source control
- Fix
Fixed an issue where the Unity Version Control client failed to install or was blocked on macOS.
- macOS
Security
- Security
Updated the bundled HTTP client library (undici) to 8.9.0, which rejects header values containing CR/LF characters.
